Austrian producer of security labels and seals Securikett has opted to bring flexo platemaking in-house by investing in a Flexcel NX Wide 3548 system with a Flexcel NX Ultra 35 processor from Miraclon.
Securikett uses the plates on its narrow web flexo presses to print with UV inks on a range of substrates, ‘with excellent print results’, stated managing director Lukas Lovrek. A feature of the Flexcel NX system is its high-resolution option for imaging at 9600 x 4800dpi, which enables microtext and security features to be reliably printed using flexo plates, explained Securikett.
Mr Lovrek outlined the new flexibility, improved reliability, minimised procurement risks, and shorter lead times for print-ready plates as the key benefits of bringing flexo platemaking in-house with Miraclon.
On top of this, by insourcing the flexo platemaking, the company eliminates plate transportation as well as the packaging material needed for shipping by external suppliers – improving sustainability. Mr Lovrek added that the solvent- and VOC-free water-based processing of Flexcel NX Ultra plates also offer environmental benefits.
