Provider of flexo printing solutions Soma has established Soma Italy, headquartered in the North-East region of the country. A move which represents a large step in the company’s expansion plans, the development will provide Italian customers with local service and expertise, the company stated.
At the helm of Soma Italy will be Moreno Melegatti. With five years of experience at Soma’s headquarters, the new CEO is equipped with leadership skills and expertise to steer this new venture, said Soma. He will be supported by Michele Fazzini, head of Soma Italy’s service team. The company added that Mr Fazzini will play a pivotal role in ensuring ‘exceptional’ support for Italian customers.
The establishment of Soma Italy isn’t the only development the company is making in the country. Soma has announced that it is also developing a technology centre dedicated to exploring sustainable flexographic printing solutions. Soma Esperienza Center, scheduled to open in July 2025, will offer Italian customers an opportunity to test Soma’s latest advancements in water-based printing.
Among the technologies showcased at Soma Esperienza will be the Optima2 flexo press with Intelligent Printing Unit (IPU), a solution developed by Soma to ‘revolutionise’ sustainable printing. Designed with sustainability in mind, the IPU enables customers to apply functional or barrier coatings in single-pass operation, therefore saving time and energy in package production, the company explained.
