Following the launch of its nyloflex eco series at drupa, XSYS says it is continuing the conversion of its traditional flexo printing plates into more sustainable versions, with the introduction of the new nyloflex eco ACT and nyloflex eco FAC plates.
Further eco flexo plates are to come in the near future, stated Florian Hoelzle, product manager nyloflex at XSYS, who said, ‘At XSYS, we are committed to lifting proven quality to a sustainable future, which is why we are swiftly expanding the nyloflex eco series while retiring our legacy plates as far as possible. Offering analogue eco versions of nyloflex ACT and nyloflex FAC is a natural progression, allowing us to support even more customers in their sustainability efforts.’
As explained by XSYS, the nyloflex eco ACT is a versatile plate for paper and board applications, delivering ‘exceptional’ performance with water-based inks, and ‘ideal’ for absorbent substrates. The nyloflex eco FAC however, is suited to substrates with rough and uneven surfaces or pressure-sensitive and soft paper materials.
In terms of composition, the plates’ polymer layers contain between 19% and 29% renewable raw materials to improve the footprint of the plates across their life cycle. They also enable a reduction of the processing time by up to 20%, helping to minimise energy use and solvent consumption in the platemaking process. Notably, nyloflex eco plates can also replace legacy nyloflex plates, said XSYS. All plate characteristics remain the same, meaning no waste will be created in the changeover.
Mr Hoelzle concluded that the company would continue to develop more products that support the sustainability journeys of its customers by lowering environmental impacts while maintaining, or even improving, the print quality.
