Packaging Innovations & Empack, which takes place on 12 and 13 February at the NEC in Birmingham, has revealed its speaker line-up, describing it as ‘visionary’.

Representatives from Wrap, Larac, Defra, OPRL, Reckitt, Bakkavor, Lush, Kellanova, Diageo, Google, McKinsey & Company, IBM, MTC, and Make UK will provide insights into the latest trends, innovations, and regulations shaping the packaging industry.

The two-day event, which looks set to welcome more than 450 exhibitors and over 7000 attendees, will feature a roster of approximately 70 speakers across three key stages: circular economy; innovation and design; and manufacturing and supply chain.

Casey McHugh, conference and community manager of UK packaging portfolio, Easyfairs UK & Global, said the goal at Packaging Innovations & Empack is to create an environment where attendees can engage with experts, discover innovative technologies, and gain insights to drive their businesses forward. There has been a meticulous process to ensure that each session delivers on this, she added.

Key sessions to look out for include: ‘Preparing for Change: The Role of Labels in Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging’, delivered by Jude Allan of OPRL; ‘The Future of Sustainable Packaging’, delivered by Maria Vastag of Smithers; and ‘Industry Insights: The Necessary Evolution of Sustainable Packaging in the Beauty Industry’, featuring Victoria Brownlie of the British Beauty Council, Ruth Andrade from Lush, and Ben Grace from SBTRCT Skincare.

Other sessions/panels include an interview with William Connolly, senior principal scientist at Diageo, discussing the company’s innovations for brands like Johnnie Walker and Baileys; a presentation on the importance of sustainability in packaging whilst ensuring your product stands out on shelves; and the panel session ‘Predictions in Packaging Optimisation’.
