Supplier of colour technology X-Rite has acquired Colorware, provider of ‘converter-friendly’ colour management software options, extending X-Rite’s ability to provide real-time colour management for converters, printers, and packaging specialists.

Through the acquisition, X-Rite will now have access to Coloware’s MeasureColor software. Described by X-Rite as a feature-rich, user-friendly interface, MeasureColor will empower printers and packaging converters to achieve lower costs through real-time colour control at the press while reporting conformance and quality to brand customers. Combining this with its hardware, Jeff McKee, president of X-Rite, said the company can better serve its customers with a seamless, end-to-end colour management offering.

He added, ‘Our customers need tools that are precise, user-friendly, and efficient while reducing waste and ensuring colour consistency from concept to finished product. The addition of Colorware to X-Rite will enable us to offer even greater fidelity to our customers.’

The combination of X-Rite’s hardware and Colorware’s software will also enable converters to meet environmental requirements, the companies claim. Incorporating Colorware’s products into X-Rite’s portfolio software will provide customers with enhanced control, data integration, and the ability to achieve precise colour matches across various substrates and processes.

Erik Koldenhof, director of Colorware, commented, ‘Joining the X-Rite team offers an incredible opportunity to explore new markets and further integrate both our technologies to bring innovative state-of-the-art MeasureColor solutions to brand owners, pre-media companies, and printers/converters worldwide.’
