Nigel Heaford, who has worked in the family business since his father John established JM Heaford 40 years ago, has retired from the prepress equipment manufacturer.
As international sales manager, Mr Heaford has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning four decades, playing a pivotal role in expanding the company’s international footprint. He also played a role in product development, and was involved in 1992 when Heaford developed the plate mounter with video cameras and microdot register marks on plates.
The company paid tribute to his contribution in ‘developing long-standing partnerships with global clients, driving international sales growth, and strengthening Heaford’s reputation as a global leader in prepress efficiency’. His departure sees ‘the conclusion of an era marked by exceptional leadership, global growth, and dedication to the company’s success’, said JM Heaford.
‘Nigel’s impact on Heaford and the wider industry has been tremendous,’ said David Muncaster, managing director of the business. ‘His commitment to building lasting customer relationships and expanding our reach across international markets has left an indelible mark on our company. He has been an ambassador for our brand worldwide.
‘We extend our deepest appreciation to Nigel for his years of dedication, leadership, and contribution to the business. His legacy will be felt for years to come.’
The company said he had a ‘deep understanding of global markets, coupled with his passion for innovation’. Mr Heaford will be succeeded by Paul Orr, who brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in all areas of the print and packaging industry, including technical roles, account leadership and team leadership.
‘Paul’s impressive track record in the flexo, gravure, pre-print, post-print and offset sectors perfectly aligns with our own organisational goals, making him a welcome addition as we embark on the next phase of growth,’ said Mr Muncaster.
Reflecting on his retirement, Nigel Heaford said, ‘It has been an honour to be part of Heaford’s journey. I have had the privilege of working alongside some wonderful colleagues, and I am proud of what we have accomplished together. I am confident in Heaford’s future and look forward to seeing the company’s continued success on the global stage.’
The company claims to have completed a thorough transition plan to ensure continuity and maintain Heaford’s ‘commitment to excellence’ in international sales and customer relations. The Heaford family remains active in the company, with Nigel’s sister Sally-Anne being a former managing director and now chairperson, and Nigel’s son now also working at the business.
