Since installing Fujifilm’s LuXtreme LED UV curing system and switching to CuremaX LED UV inks in July this year, Paragon ID UK says it has experienced an 80% drop in power consumption compared to its previous mercury arc UV systems.

Paragon ID UK – a flexo label print manufacturer with additional capability in the production of RFID labels and access cards – said it has also saved 40% of its power using Fujifilm’s curing system compared to its IR units.

Jamie Parker, head of operations at Paragon ID’s Hull site, said that the company is now able to maximise its environmental credentials through Fujifilm’s technology. Impressed by the energy savings and performance from the LED systems, Mr Parker said the company is now looking to convert additional machines from conventional UV to LED UV.

Additional benefits to the LED technology, outlined by Lee Murrell, plant manager at Paragon ID in Hull, include the improved working conditions on the production floor. He said there has been a noticeable difference once the system was installed, with machines running cooler and quieter; improved air quality; easier maintenance, with no unexpected downtime caused by the UV systems; and an overall more comfortable and healthier environment.

Ian Isherwood, segment manager EMEA analogue packaging, Fujifilm Europe, commented, ‘We’re delighted to see that our partnership with Paragon ID UK has resulted in measurable results, positioning the company at the forefront of sustainable innovation in the print industry, setting a new standard for efficiency in flexographic label printing. By combining Paragon ID’s industry expertise with Fujifilm’s advanced solutions, we are confident in our ability to deliver comprehensive and sustainable print solutions to customers worldwide.’
