MPS is targeting flexible packaging and shrink sleeve applications with the launch of its new EF Packaging press, which has a 26-inch web width.
The company said the system builds on the foundation of its EF narrow web press series, used in label printing and noted for high levels of automation and ease of use. However, the extended web width can open new markets and opportunities for label converters or suit flexible packaging converters that are looking for a solution for short runs.
The EF Packaging press can deliver ‘exceptional results’ across a broad spectrum of applications, including wrap-around labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, laminated products and filmic labels or products. It therefore provides ‘unmatched flexibility and precision’, said MPS, ensuring that printers can tackle even the most challenging print jobs with ease.
The wider print format boosts production capacity and offers extremely quick change-over times between jobs, to help maximise uptime and meet tight deadlines. However, MPS says it is its ‘unparalleled’ user-friendliness that sets the EF Packaging press apart.
It also includes several unique features, according to the manufacturer, that elevate its performance. These include Crisp.Dot Technology, to help achieve the highest level of print quality, and repeatability, whichever substrate is used; E-Sleeve Technology, for quick and effortless changeovers, with the patented lightweight aluminium E-Sleeves guaranteeing an even distribution of print pressure and durability; and a lightweight, fast-change ink chamber doctor blade system which can be used with or without an ink pump, in combination with the MPS slide-out ink drawer, to minimise ink waste, optimise flexibility, and allow for fast ink changeovers with ergonomic handling for the operator.
Advanced automation features include fully automatic mark-to-mark register setting, dynamic and pre-settable impression settings, the MPS Virtual Coach, based on based on real-time data from MPSConnect, and an MPSConnect enhanced service platform, designed to improve uptime, productivity, and efficiency, offering valuable insights and support to keep the press running smoothly and profitably.
Further customisable options and modules include a rotogravure printing unit, a solvent-based printing unit, turner bars and lamination modules.
