Hungary-based press manufacturer, Varga-Flexo, has introduced a new food casing CI-flexo press, Varga Oktoflex, designed to produce food casings with fast changeovers due to its non-stop reel change. It has chosen Vetaphone’s corona treatment as a key ancillary option for the technology.
An adaptation of the Varga Oktoflex Premium line, the casing press is available in web widths from 500mm to 800mm and in up to 10 colours with a top production speed of 300m/min. It features gearless drive, which can handle reels up to 600mm diameter and has solvent-, water- and UV-based ink technology for making artificial casings and shrink tubes from substrates including BOPP, PE, PET, PA, CPP and paper, as well as aluminium foil.
Zoltan Kelemen, global business development manager at Varga, described the CI-flexo press as a perfect fit for the package printing market. He outlined the machine’s benefits which include: a small footprint; low operating costs, to give a quick ROI; and its 100% inspection, ensuring the press meets Industry 4.0 standards for automation efficiency.
Looking to provide high attention to detail and reliability with the press, Varga decided Vetepahone’s corona treatment, which provides an important link in the production chain, was the ideal ancillary equipment to offer the highest quality for its customers.
Karsten Koch, area sales manager at Vetaphone, commented, ‘Varga was looking to combine quality and reliability with value for money, and Vetaphone’s extensive knowledge allows us to tailor our range of technology to suit specific requirements. The corona technology we supply to Varga is fully integrated and interfaced via Profinet with their CI presses, high powered up to 7kW, and capable of treating at 275m/min.’
CEO of Varga, Dénes Varga, concluded, ‘We design all our machines to be operator-friendly, cost-effective and reliable, and we expect the same standards from our co-suppliers. Our experience with Vetaphone corona technology has fulfilled our expectations and we are pleased to recommend it to our customers. My father built the business on playing the long game and this is how we see our future with Vetaphone.’
