Ohio-based family-owned business, WT Nickell Label Company, has recently expanded its capabilities in the pressure-sensitive label market by adding a new Nilpeter FB-350 printing press – the second FB-350 press that WT Nickell has installed in the past three years.

The new FB-350 was installed three months ago, enhancing the company’s production capacity. Despite initial concerns about maintaining sufficient volume to keep the press running full-time, these worries have proven unfounded, as the press has been fully operational since its installation, it explained.

With a strategy to increase its volume, WT Nickell said the FB model Nilpeter press fits into its existing setup, particularly because of its use of water-based inks, which is ‘ideal’ for its partnerships with micro-breweries. The Nilpeter presses owned by the company are equipped with seven and eight colour units respectively, both featuring turnbars and lamination.

Rick Meyer, president and co-owner of WT Nickell said working with Nilpeter again was an easy decision, as the supplier understood its needs, and has not pushed unnecessary equipment.  There is also a local connection between the two.

With the new press and updated equipment, the synergy between WT Nickell’s digital and flexo operations has been seamless, improving its print quality which has benefited its customers, said the company. The first three months have shown promising results with a high demand for the new press.

Looking forward, the company anticipates continued growth despite global uncertainties. WT Nickell said its market presence – from pharmaceuticals to food & beverage and industrial labels — positions it well to manage risks and seize growth opportunities in different sectors. One of its next strategic moves is to venture into flexible packaging, pushing its growth trajectory further.
