Polyart Group has introduced Fiberskin Tag, a 100% paper option for tags and labels, said to be tear resistant and water resistant, courtesy of a specialised coating that also enables it to be recycled in the standard wastepaper stream. The composition of the coating is confidential.
The manufacturer said Fibreskin Tag is suitable for food contact but is also recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable. It complies with food certifications BFR XXXVI and DGCCRF, but also with packaging regulations, including those governing cellulose nets for fruit and vegetable packaging (in accordance with the anti-waste AGEC law for a Circular Economy). This paper is also FSC certified (FSC C195593).
Featuring a one-sided coating, it supports 4-colour printing on both sides using flexography and offset technologies, as well as single-side thermal transfer printing. Its claimed ‘versatility’ means easy conversion using standard equipment, mirroring the behaviour of traditional paper and board during the conversion process.
The product is offered in four grammages, coated one side 135gsm and 185gsm plus uncoated in 90gsm and 22gsm.
This paper is perceived to best suits tags and labels applications, including bands for fruit and vegetables, nets for fruit and vegetables, wineglass labels, food labels in cold and refrigerated environments, wristbands for amusement parks and nursery tags.
