Coveris believes it has added a key piece in its sustainability journey, with the appointment of Dr Martin Berlekamp as group sustainability director. Dr Berlekamp was most recently leading the sustainability department at the adapa Group (formerly Schur Flexibles).
The packaging manufacturing group said that Dr Berlekamp had a ‘wealth of industry experience and a proven track record in sustainability and ESG’ – the latter being the acronym for Environmental Social Governance. He joins Coveris in the wake of the launch of its No Waste sustainability strategy, which includes its ReCover recycling business. The appointment will ‘ideally position the company to successfully execute its entire ESG agenda’, it said, helping to ‘achieve its aspiration to become a sustainability leader’.

Dr Berlekamp has worked in numerous R&D, product management and technology development roles within the packaging sector, including spells at Klöckner Pentaplast and Liveo Research.
