Swiss corrugated packaging and display producer Model AG is to take ownership of a new 2.1m-wide flexo press from Koenig & Bauer Celmacch at its Wienfelden plant in summer 2024.
The specification for the seven-unit Chroma X Pro 2100 press incorporates numerous features for automated operation, and with production speeds of up to 14,000 sheets per hour the machine is described as ‘extremely powerful’ by Koenig & Bauer.
Erol Gencoglu, head of production at Model AG, commented, ‘We had a totally clear vision concerning machinery and technology: in particular, short makeready times, modern and intuitive handling, and a very high automation level, were essential conditions for us, which Koenig & Bauer Celmacch is quite simply able to fulfil.’
Among the productivity enhancing aspects of the new press are Easy Job Change, which allows a new job to start in three minutes, as well as Flying Job Change, which makes it possible to transition to a new job while the press is running with a gap of only two sheets.
Set up times are also reduced by automatic cliché cleaning in the print unit, and automatic washing and bucket ejection. Register Control and Image Control systems are also included, while a roll-less feeder means that corrugated sheets are gently conveyed into the press.
