East Riding Sacks, which is the UK’s largest paper sack manufacturer, has invested in a new Allstein Hydro CI flexo press, attracted by the possibility it offers for fast job changeovers.
The eight-colour, 500m/min central impression machine includes Allstein’s register and impression system (A RUN) and it’s A CHANGE technology, enabling the setting up of the press using spare print units at full production speed, while the current job is being printed.
Describing the Hydro as ‘an incredible press’, Jürgen Bopzin, technical engineering director of East Riding Sacks, said, ‘The press helps our company reach new levels of productivity. It’s like we bought a Ferrari – a machine built to be fast. Now we have to learn to push it to the limit.’
The company’s managing director Robert Mabbett added that the addition of the press would open doors to new possibilities in terms of quantities and flexibility, saying, ‘As a pioneer in the paper sack business we have always invested in technology that will enable us to remain at the forefront of development and deliver sustainable production to our customers.’
