Press manufacturer Mark Andy has revealed strong sales of its hybrid press solutions combining conventional and digital printing to Polish printers and converters, claiming it has delivered more than 30 toner- and inkjet-based hybrid solutions to this market in the last five years.
The company’s first European installations of its Digital Series and Digital One hybrid presses took place in 2017, with both initial implementations being at Polish printing houses.
Przemyslaw Polkowski, country manager for Mark Andy in Poland, said there was plenty of reluctance from printers at the start to move from conventional printing to talking about hybrid and its opportunities. ‘Despite this initial reservation, we’re now observing dynamic sales growth for hybrid solutions,’ he said. ‘Specific to the Polish market, we have already implemented more than 30 hybrid presses in this country. Moreover, in 2022 we have delivered second or third hybrid presses to the same customers.’
Mr Polkowski added that hybrid technology is increasingly being seen as an appropriate answer to challenges such as decreasing label runs, demand for new packaging and label designs, versioning, pressure on shorter delivery times and higher quality, manufacturers ordering smaller runs, and a need for print businesses to renew and diversify.
Key advantages and benefits identified by printers using the technology include profitable production of smaller runs, the ability to implement variable data printing, high quality and colour stability, economically viable one-pass printing and converting, an ability to handle a wide range of substrates, and reduced waste and energy use.
