Norwegian printer Skipnes has purchased a fourth MPS press, the first flexo press in the country specified with over eight printing stations. The investment was made possible by the growth of the Scandinavian market, which is expanding by 4–10% per year, depending on segmentation.
The Trondheim-based company, founded in 1969, has invested in an MPS EF 430 multi-substrate flexo press, having only recently finished installing its third MPS press, also an EF 430. The company, which purchased its first two presses in 2004 and 2007 respectively, uses the equipment to produce labels for food and drink as well as flexible packaging.
‘Our experience with MPS since 2004 was always positive and their technology has proven very effective with a solid machine construction,’ said administrative director Roald Skipnes. ‘During the process of procuring a new press, MPS again offered us the best solution.’
To print more complicated label designs, Skipnes’ new EF 430 press is equipped with units for reverse printing, adhesive printing, the production of multi-layer labels, finishing with cold foil and lamination, and a sheet cutter.
‘Skipnes is a forward-thinking company, looking to push technical boundaries of a flexo press to the limits,’ explained MPS area sales manager Anton Zhukov. ‘Speeds of 150–180m/min including die-cutting are normal for this customer.’
