Windmöller & Hölscher (W&H) has appointed Falco Paepenmüller as its chief technology officer. Mr Paepenmüller will take up the position, which has been newly created, on 1 April 2019.
He has been with the German flexible packaging specialists since 2007, holding a variety of management positions. His successor as head of the extrusion business unit will be Torsten Schmitz, who has been working for W&H since 2008 and is currently responsible for the cast film division.
‘The addition of a chief technology officer emphasises our focus on innovation,’ explained CEO Jürgen Vutz. ‘With faster innovation cycles and more connected processes, a separate management board position has become more important for the expansion of technology leadership.
‘With Dr. Paepenmüller and Dr. Schmitz, we have been able to recruit outstanding technical experts for the positions that are also known and valued as leaders in the company. Both are very important to us as a family business.’
As of April 2019, members of the W&H Management Board will include Jürgen Vutz, chairman, Peter Steinbeck, chief sales and service officer, and Falco Paepenmüller, chief technology officer. The position of chief financial officer will be filled in the course of this calendar year.
