Zangrass, the new grass paper from Zanders, is suitable for a variety of applications
Zanders has revealed its latest product, Zangrass, at FachPack 2018. The uncoated grass paper has a tactile feel that was developed especially for sustainable packaging.
The new paper offers a natural look with fine grass dots on a greenish-beige basic tone. It is made from 20-40% virgin fibres of sun-dried grass, combined with bleached fresh fibre pulp. Its quality, stability and processing properties have been optimised for flexo printing.
Zangrass is mainly used for organic and natural products for corrugated cardboard packaging or reusable paper carrier bags. Up to 75% of CO₂ emissions can be saved in the process chain in comparison to pure fibre-based papers, and water consumption is also lower.
The paper is available in 120 and 150gsm and is completely recyclable and compostable. An expansion of the product range to lighter and heavier weights is planned.
