Americk NI Ltd, the holding company of a large Northern European packaging group, has purchased Primopost Limited. The UK packaging printer won the FlexoTech award for Best use of flexo within a single forme in 2011.

The Primopost management team said that they are extremely happy becoming part of the Americk NI Ltd family, recognising that the group already has multi-site operational experience and the wider potential for a full flexible packaging supply offering. The acquisition will enable operations at its Derbyshire facility to develop through investment in both the infrastructure and in new machinery, including a new printing press planned for later this year. The packaging printer delivers flexible packaging solutions of the highest quality and its packaging can be seen on the shelves in supermarkets throughout the UK. Included in the Americk NI portfolio is Webtech (NI), another flexographic printing facility that has now become brand leader throughout Europe in reel-fed OPP (orientated polypropylene) labelling.

Whilst the two printers have similar wide web flexographic printing capabilities, they complement each other through their differing markets, making a strong strategic fit between the two. It also gives the group multi-site capabilities, essential for continuity supply to major customers throughout the UK and Europe. With a secure financial base, Primopost provides a total packaging solution for all its customers’ needs. This latest acquisition represents an important part of Americk’s strategic plan to increase the group’s ‘flexible packaging’ turnover to over £100 million within the next three years. Nigel McSorley, managing director, Webtech (NI), commented, ‘This acquisition is a substantial boost for Primopost Limited, as it will enable strong growth through the group’s existing European position, helping generate greater sales in the European marketplace for the group. ‘The purchase of Primopost differentiates us from our competitors in terms of range of flexible packaging, production capabilities and capacity now multiple printing plants, one in Northern Ireland and one in mainland UK complementing each other. Our business growth strategy focuses on world class manufacturing supported by product innovation and customer service excellence.

‘It’s a very exciting time for us all, this investment will extend the range of packaging solutions that the Americk NI group offer. This certainly is a ‘Win Win’ situation for all concerned,’ he concluded.
