WS Packaging Group Inc, which was formed in 2000 with the merger of Wisconsin Label Corporation founded in 1966, and Superior Label Systems founded in 1970, has added flexible packaging to its portfolio.
From easy-to-convert paper-faced pouching materials for dry foods and powdered ingredients such as soup or drink mixes, to film-faced pouching products with optimal barrier and sealability characteristics, the new flexible packaging line offers a wide range of products for a variety of markets and end-use applications. In addition, the flexible packaging line offers paper and film-faced lidding for dry, powdered and liquid applications.
‘Flexible packaging allows us to further leverage packaging as a primary point of differentiation for our customers’ brands, and to accomplish such with speed and versatility,’ said Mark Moorhead, director of marketing. ‘Brand managers can use flexible packaging to revitalise their product image with longer shelf life, better taste, product safety, convenience and portability. These materials enable our customers to leverage speed-to-market strategies tied to line extensions, allowing them to stay ahead of their competition.’
According to the Flexible Packaging Association, flexible packaging is the second largest packaging segment in the US, garnering 19% of the packaging market.
The wide range of available substrates will enable WS Packaging to build customised flexible packaging constructions for its customers. For example, sub-surface printable base stocks and clear laminating films are key components that can be easily mixed and matched to meet varying needs. Base stocks provide barrier and sealant layers with the ability to protect the print using polyester or oriented polypropylene films.
‘Innovative package design is increasingly influencing consumers when it comes to in store purchasing decisions,’ Mr Moorhead said. ‘Flexible packaging delivers the convenience needed by today’s lifestyles. Coupled with a broad range of materials and converting properties, flexible packaging creates the recognition brand owners and consumers trust.’
WS Packaging Group Inc, with more than 45 years of experience, is one of the largest printing and label converting operations in North America. It operates 20 manufacturing facilities across the US and Mexico.
