Kevin Keegan with Mark Bradley, production manager at SA Labels, receiving the Supreme Award from Rob Mulligan and Lindsey Pearson of Whitmar Publications.
It was a pretty strawberry blonde that caught the eye of the judges and ran off with not only the award for Label & tag (Process), but also the Supreme Award at this year’s FlexoTech Awards. Held at the Hilton London Metropole on October 18, the celebrations saw a surprised Mark Bradley from SA Labels come to the stage to collect the prestigious trophy. The winning label was produced for St Austell Brewery in Cornwall and according to the judges presents ‘a very strong image for the brand owner’ and is ‘a perfect showcase for flexo – a stunning label.’
The gala dinner was hosted by Kevin Keegan who entertained the 350 guests with tales of his illustrious career in football – even mentioning his famous 70s perm – and eliciting howls of laugher as he went through a collection of hilarious slides. After the ceremony, KK, as Mr Keegan likes to be known, happily posed for photos and signed numerous autographs before joining in the fun and games in the sports bar.
Having run a successful casino for the past couple of years, the 2012 event featured a new sports bar and this proved to be a real hit with the guests. Sponsored by Waldo Ltd, a variety of sports games were on offer and there is no doubt that the competitive spirit is alive and well in the flexo community.
Testing competitors’ reaction times, stamina and peripheral vision, the Batak game was originally developed for sports professionals such as Formula 1 drivers. It certainly tested the skills of the guests, and after some fierce battles, the final winner was Neil Squance from Polyprint while the golf putting was won by Sean Coxon, managing director of Four04 Packaging.
A full list of winners will be published in the next issue of FlexoTech magazine.
