Owner Bill Hine

Yorkshire-based Hine Labels Ltd, a family-owned company, has grown steadily ever since Bill Hine’s father started the company 30 years ago. Over the years, it has become increasingly known for its ability to handle challenging work. The company specialises in solutions such as punching, die-cutting, screen, multiple processing and multi-layer labels, as well as printing on a wide range of materials.

The company recently purchased its fourth Nilpeter flexo press, an FB-3300S, featuring full servo, full auto register and pre-setting, and fitted with an IST UV curing system. In addition, it opted for several additional features such as sheeter conveyor, turner bar, delam/relam, full rail system, screen printing, cold foil and fan folding.

‘We were experiencing an ever increasing demand for high quality technical labels,’ Bill Hine explained. ‘We couldn’t cope with the demand, so in spring 2012, we decided to expand our capacity in volume and in features. Full servo and hot air dryers combined with UV curing were pivotal features, which is one of the reasons why we went for the FB-3300S.’

When asked about the benefits of the new press, Mr Hine wass quick to respond, ‘The auto register is staggering. It just stays put! Sometimes we think the monitor doesn’t work because the register cross on the screen is so accurate.’ He added, ‘This press is a huge step forward. The quality is better and easier to maintain and also the press operators find it user friendly. It saves us a lot of time and material because it goes into register very fast and it stays there.’

As Hine Labels often prints on challenging filmic substrates, it is essential that the press maintains accurate registration. It now saves a lot of time and material thanks to the outstanding tension control of the press. Mr Hine explained, ‘Our operators prefer Nilpeter presses because their tension control is better than on other presses in our shop.’ He said that he knew he wanted a Nilpeter press because he has been able to rely on them for 15 years. ‘Our Nilpeter presses are astonishingly reliable. They are very robust, solid, and well-engineered, and we don’t experience down time due to mechanical failure.’
