At the beginning of the week the management board of Lüscher AG Maschinenbau initiated bankruptcy proceedings.
Based in Gretzenbach, Switzerland, Lüscher AG has 59 employees and manufactures machines for pre-press operations for electronic imaging of offset and flexographic printing plates.
The downturn in the graphics industry on top of the financial crisis which has seen the continuing disappearance of printing shops has lead to the company’s demise. Combining this with the significant fall in orders over the last nine months has made it impossible for the company to continue trading.
Despite extensive efforts and support from the bank, development partners and investors, including new and more attractive applications in the industrial print market, it has not been possible to stabilise the company’s financial position.
Together with strategic partners, there is a chance of continuing parts of the company’s activities and maintaining jobs.
The management board and the company’s managers would like to thank its customers, suppliers, distributors and employees for their loyalty and cooperation over the years.
The company will be working with the authorities over the coming weeks to endeavour to maintain a minimum level of disruption.
