Edale has opened a sales and support office in Lamlukka, Thailand, to cover all regions of Asia Pacific, run by new company Edale Asia Pacific.

The countries to be serviced by this new office include Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam. The office is the next step for Edale, which sees the region as the next big growth area in its expansion plans.

Headed up by Tony Law, general manager, and Pasin Sritong, sales manager, the company has already sold three machines. Most recently a six colour FL-3 label and flexible packaging press into Malaysia, a five colour FL-1 compact flexo press for labels in Bangkok and an eight colour FL-5 Carton line for the production of paper cups went to Aksorn Art Paper Cup and Packaging Company, based in Samutsakorn, Thailand.

The latter is part of the wider Aksorn Art Group and is one of Thailand’s suppliers of offset printing services and innovative packaging solutions. It was producing such high volumes of jobs that its four existing offset presses could no longer keep up with demand, and when the time came for the next investment, it decided to turn to flexo.

Joe Wongvorakul, managing director, said, ‘We decided on the 8 colour Edale FL-5 Carton as it can drastically reduce time; the biggest problem we were finding with offset were the bottlenecks. This will be eradicated with the FL-5 Carton, and allow us to become more efficient in both cost and time, enabling us to meet customer order demands quicker.’

Edale Asia Pacific has spent a great deal of time at the UK head office getting a feel for the product portfolio, participating in various agent training days and a week’s training during the factory acceptance for the FL-5 carton line, this is being followed by another week’s training during an FL-3 press installation in the UK in mid November.

‘We couldn’t be happier to be involved in the newly formed Edale Asia Pacific. Having worked with Edale for a number of years in a separate division, we are already impressed with the way that Edale does business as well as its range of machinery. Edale being a UK manufacturer means machine quality is guaranteed to be world class,’ said Mr Law.

‘We are pleased to have Edale Asia Pacific join our growing team of sales agents’ said, James Boughton, managing director. ‘Their key industry relationships and extensive knowledge of flexography, combined with the ability to service such a wide area make for a perfect fit for our growth strategies in these regions.’
