Despite the over use of the word revolutionary, big advancements in technology do not happen often. So when HD flexo arrived in 2009, it turned a lot of heads.

Defining a new generation of repro

EskoArtwork claims to have revolutionised flexo printing with the launch this month of high definition flexo -HD Flexo, which combines improved optics with advanced screening technology.

EskoArtwork is the first to declare that there is nothing new in the underlying technologies that make up HD Flexo, a system launched this month that promises the full tonal range of offset for flexo printers. The company has brought together a range of innovations acquired over its recent acquisitive past to provide one out-of-the-box product for flexo at high levels of reproduction.

Beyond better quality, the key to benefits of HD Flexo are said to be simpler and faster pre-press, fewer errors and the opportunity to take repro work in-house instead of outsourcing. The company has said HD plates have also been proven to print more consistently than conventional in long print runs.

HD Flexo combines 400 dpi optics – similar, the company said, to using an ultra fine pencil to write on paper – with its existing screening technologies to take advantage of sharper and more accurate imaging.
