The future of flexographic printing in the packaging sector is the topic of a panel discussion chaired by FlexoTech editor, Neel Madsen, at this year’s Packaging Innovation show later this month.
Kicking of the exciting learnShop programme at the NEC, the debate will take place between a number of printers and pre-press suppliers in the Print Innovation theatre on the first day of the show.
In recent years, flexo has made significant progress in terms of control of the process and can today produce exceptional print quality. A number of drivers are pushing the technology forward, and the discussion will focus on how the industry is responding to demands for shorter runs, sustainability and cost efficiency whilst still delivering the high quality print demanded by brand owners.
On the panel will be four people who all have many years of experience in the flexo industry. Alan Coker is the business development manager at Creation Reprographics – an innovative pre-press company specialising in packaging artwork and reprographics; Paul Horton is the studio manager at Learoyd Packaging – a flexographic print specialist supplying innovative packaging solutions to major supermarkets, brand owners and retailers globally; Chris Ellison owns OPM Group – a leading label and packaging printing company, which is also at the forefront of innovation in flexographic printing; and John Bambery, the chairman of BPIF labels, who will also be heading up the judging panel at the FlexoTech Awards later this year.
