EFTA-Benelux has organised a meeting to further discuss and investigate the possibilities of establishing a European umbrella organisation for the flexographic printing industry.
The meeting is a follow up to a gathering on the 19 November 2013, in Bologna, which was initiated and hosted by the Italian flexographic association ATIF.
The national flexographic associations will meet on the 25 June in Brussels to explore the possibilities of working closer together as all flexographic associations are facing the same challenges.
Debbie Waldron-Hoines, EFIA director, was in attendance at the meeting in 2013 and will also be attending the meeting in Brussels, representing the UK’s flexographic association.
There is a need for better education on the growing influence of environmental and sustainability issues, introduction of new European legislation, new available technology and innovations, and the continuing consolidation of the industry, which give cause to sit down and determine the next steps to be taken.
There is also a need to organise a better representation of the industry at a European Union level.
