The F&K 20SIX at Tilwel

One year on from the installation of a Bobst F&K 20SIX flexo printing press, Societé Tilwel, based in Brie Comte Robert south-east of Paris, has expressed its satisfaction with the machine.

The 1100 mm wide eight colour press runs at speeds up to 600 m/min and has fully met Tilwel’s high expectations. ‘We print on all types of substrates, from 330 gsm carton board to thin OPP film. We print on 20 microns, and we have even printed on 12 micron PET,’ said Laurent Parolari, production manager at Societé Tilwel, who is also very impressed by the process consistency and efficiency that the smartGPS registration and impression setting system provides.

As Arnaud Barbedet, site director, pointed out, the F&K 20SIX not only allows the company to target new markets, but also serves a back up for the other companies of the group. According to Mr Barbedet, there were three major reasons why this press was chosen. Firstly the performance of the press, secondly the quality of service that Bobst provides, and thirdly, the trustworthiness of the Bobst employees involved in the buying process.

The company is also taking full advantage of the capability of the press to print with water-based inks. Water-based flexo has a long tradition in the family-owned Brodard Packaging group which Societé Tilwel is part of and reflects the group’s environmentally friendly ethos. Running five production sites with 210 employees in total, the group has a turnover of €45 million serving a wide variety of sectors, including dairy, convenience food, coffee, personal care and cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
