Using the new DuPont Cyrel Fast DFUV plates, Aleithe was able to achieve significant productivity and quality benefits

DuPont Packaging Graphics and Aleithe Haftetiketten GmbH, in Germany, a leading manufacturer of high-quality packaging solutions, recently completed a successful conversion to new DuPont Cyrel Fast DFUV plates. The new plates have improved solid ink density, boosting the quality of Aleithe’s high end tag and label products, while reducing waste and startup time each by more than half.

‘We have worked exclusively with Cyrel Fast plates for the past eight years because they have allowed us to optimise our process and achieve very good quality,’ said Frank Grünthal, pre-press manager at Aleithe. ‘After transitioning to the new Cyrel DFUV plates, we noted a visually significant improvement in our print quality, waste and prep time were cut in half, and prints came up to color almost immediately. This translates into great results for our customers.’

The conversion to the new plate was a success for many reasons, eg the company did not have to change the setting of its Cyrel Fast equipment, which eliminated the need for readjustments and training of staff.

The chosen test job was challenging, with a difficult design printed on polypropylene (PP). Aleithe was very pleased with the immediate results observed in terms of ink transfer, coverage and low graininess. The print quality was improved and the process was optimised. Because the plates do not pick up the ink and dust in a way that requires frequent cleaning during the set up phase or during the print process, there was a dramatic reduction in the preparation of the print run. These advantages have resulted in a significant reduction in preparation time; and because the prints came up to colour almost immediately, substrate waste also was cut by more than half.

The company has now switched to DFUV plates for all its new print jobs and for older jobs whenever a plate is changed.

Aleithe is a German company focused on high-quality, customised tags, labels and flexible packaging products. It maintains a broad range of equipment capable of printing standard and highly specialised labels of up to three layers, five sides and other bespoke designs for the pharmaceutical, food and beverage, cosmetics, and chemicals industries.
