Sante Conselvan of the Italian flexo association Atif spoke on behalf of FTA Europe
Another step towards a unified European flexographic association has been made, as five core countries have established the foundations of the FTA Europe.
The five founders include Benelux, Italy, France, Spain and the UK. At a recent meeting in Paris, the decision was made to go ahead with the establishment of the organisation whose aim is to align vocational training, education and certification, and create harmonisation and standardisation in the process across borders.
Sante Conselvan of the Italian association Atif said, ‘Today we have achieved our goal of establishing a European FTA and it is a big step forward. We have a common objective in coordinating training and standardisation in the flexo process, as well as being able to influence governmental institutions and decision making. This is the first step in a long process.’
This process was started over a year ago when delegates first met in Italy. This was followed by a second meeting held this year in June, in Belgium. The founders will now work on setting out the framework, while other national associations, also present at the meeting in Paris, will seek approval from its membership to join.
