The newly formed FTA Europe, in cooperation with EFTA-Benelux, will be holding a mini symposium at Labelexpo in Brussels. Taking place on Wednesday 30 September, the meeting will address the future of flexo and discuss which activities the national flexo associations are planning to support the industry and the goals they have set in order to promote their members’ activities.
A presentation from Sam Grimley, senior brand partner at Blippar, will illustrate how augmented reality (AR) applications can be used to enhance flexographic print by offering an interface between products and consumers using mobile technology. During the mini symposium, he will explain how this virtual dimension provides new opportunities for printers in the narrow web flexo market. He said, ‘Augmented reality offers brands the opportunity to engage with their consumers for longer. They enable them to attract, retain and engage with the product through an immersive experience. Connecting the product with the consumer through an app, Blippar becomes the lens through which the real world can be spontaneously unlocked and converted into content-rich, interactive experiences.’
Following Mr Grimley’s presentation Chris Stowe, product manager 3D tools at Esko, will give a live demonstration of how AR technology can support the review and approval process in the packaging and label production workflow.
The EFTA-Benelux/FTA Europe mini symposium will be held at the Packprint Workshop feature area in hall 8. After the session, visitors are invited for refreshments in the Belgian Beer Café nearby the symposium area. To register, please send your contact details to mail@efta.nl.
