Mark Andy launched its hybrid press, the Digital Series, at Labelexpo Europe 2015, which unlike many of the other hybrid presses revealed at the exhibition is not the product of a partnership with another OEM.
Apart from the print heads, the manufacturer of which was not revealed, the press is built entirely by Mark Andy, leading them to call it, ‘the first truly hybrid press’.
The Digital Series has a wholly configurable design that integrates full colour, CMYK digital inkjet technology with opaque white, all designed for fast change, web handling, in-line converting and other label and package decoration options.
According to the company the press combines the economies and productive advantages of digital workflows, inkjet and flexographic printing processes, in-line converting and variety of decorating – all delivering a dynamic approach to minimize job changeover times and maximize output and uptime in a digital print environment.
The Digital Series comes with the added configurability of fully advanced, integrated and automated in-line flexographic printing and converting hybrid system running at speeds over 76 m/min. The Digital Series is available in a 330 mm web width and is capable of a range of substrates from sophisticated packaging materials to films to traditional pressure sensitive label stocks.
Kevin Wilken CEO, said, ‘We are a total solutions provider which means we include a consultative approach to our customer needs to help evolve our customers businesses. Everything that surrounds a press, we can support.
‘Partnerships do very well when it comes to selling a product but do not do well when it comes to servicing those products. What happens if in five years those partnerships fall apart?’
