The Mark Andy P5 Press running production at Custom Labels in New Jersey

Converting company Custom Labels has installed a Mark Andy Performance Series P5 press at its premises in New Jersey.

The seven colour narrow web flexo press, equipped with delam/relam capability, has a 330 mm web width and was chosen for its ability to produce the high quality work required by the company’s customers.

Abraham Rubin, Custom Labels founder, explained, ‘The Mark Andy P5 combines speed with precision and is remarkably easy to operate. In fact, our press men have required very little training and are already obtaining outstanding results, including one difficult job that requires the use of a re-moistenable adhesive.’

Currently running a single shift and producing predominantly paper-based labels, Mr Rubin plans to use the P5 to develop the business into the film label and flexible packaging markets. With 95% of its pre-press handled in-house and the added capacity of a new CTC turret rewinder due to be installed in the first quarter of 2016, the company is predicting a three-fold growth in business over the next few years.

According to Mr Rubin, the addition of the P5 to existing capacity, and both Rotoflex and Arpeco inspection rewinders, is the key element in that growth plan. ‘We need to meet and exceed the expectations of our customers, and also try to anticipate their future demands – the flexible capacity of a Mark Andy Performance Series press will allow us to do that.’
