John Attaway (centre), seen here with Keith Gypps and Paul Macdonald, says the new Mark Andy P3 has replaced three older presses and boosted productivity by 50%.
BSP Labels has invested in a Mark Andy P3, a 280 mm six colour press, which has cut wastage and increased productivity and running speeds at the company’s headquarters in Melbourn, UK.
In 2015, after seeing press demonstrations following its European debut in Brussels at Labelexpo 2013, the company purchased and installed the press with turn bars, rolls lifts, three die-cutting stations, and a sheeter.
The company has used Mark Andy technology before. In 2002, the company installed a Mark Andy Scout to support the company’s growing volume of work, and it was soon realised how much flexibility the technology gave over the range of products the company was producing.
The Scout ‘raised operational efficiency overnight’, according to production director John Attaway, who said of the compact flexo press, ‘It’s been very reliable and we have been extremely happy with its performance, which helped sway our decision on the purchase of the Mark Andy P3.’ He continued, ‘On first viewing the press we couldn’t believe how easy it was to makeready and run – and the quality coming off the press was so consistent. Now it has been installed, we are very happy how it holds perfect register at double the running speeds. It has also cut our waste by 50% and helped us to increase productivity. In fact, it has allowed us to replace three of our older presses.’
