Managing director of Clifton Packaging, Shahid Sheikh, collected the Company of the Year Award
Clifton Packaging won the award for Company of the Year at the Leicester Mercury Business Awards last week, which recognised the company’s growth, innovation and development.
Shahid Sheikh OBE, managing director, said, ‘We were shortlisted for the Leicester Mercury Business Awards in two categories – the Excellence in Science and Technology category and Company of the Year. I am absolutely thrilled to announce that we won the big award of the night – the Company of the Year award. The judges commented on the fact that Clifton Packaging was the perfect mix of success in our industry, growth, innovation, vision, employee engagement and development, and community support. I would like to offer my sincere congratulations to all the other finalists and winners.’
Management from Clifton Packaging collected the award in front of almost 800 guests at a black tie ceremony at Leicester’s Platinum Suite. Speaking at the ceremony Mr Sheikh said, ‘I would like to dedicate this award to my late parents and elder brother, Khalid Sheikh, former chairman of Clifton Packaging, who sadly passed away in May 2014. I would also like to thank my elder sister and every family member for their continued support. We have a very committed team at Clifton Packaging and my thanks also goes out to each and every one of them. Our staff are instrumental in helping us to achieve all that we have to date and in helping us to take the business to where we intend to take it over the next three to five years. Last, but by no means least, I would like to thank our customers and suppliers. It is true to say that without them we wouldn’t be who we are today.’
