The new Miraflex II C
Windmöller & Hölscher has added the Miraflex II C to the Miraflex family, which includes integrated automation modules to further increase efficiency and sustainability.
Great attention has been paid by to the physical design of the new press. On the Miraflex II C, the rear frame and the tunnel – the area between the printing unit and the rewind unit – have been redesigned. In the rear frame inspection systems can be integrated as required and on the bridge, all auxiliary components are installed. Even when fitted with the maximum equipment such as inline printing units, all components of the machine are accessible.
‘We have paid special attention to intuitive operability and improved accessibility – the new design underlines these ergonomic improvements. We always work according to the principle that form follows function, not the other way around,’ explained Markus Bauschulte, head of customer technical support, printing.
Another feature of the new press is the automatic cleaning of the impression cylinder. Up until now, cleaning the central cylinder meant considerable effort and expense as well as long machine down times. The Miraflex II C completes the process automatically.
Also with the press comes the Turboclean Advacned E from W&H, an inking and ink cleaning system with electric pumps for pulsation-free ink circulation in central cylinder machines. Ink circulation volume, washing times and solvent consumption are reduced. Additionally, it works without the usual need for maintenance. A new drying system also contributes to the increased efficiency and sustainability of the Miraflex II C.
With the new Vision family, W&H is introducing coordinated assistance systems that increase the intelligence of machines and significantly enhance their efficiency. Optimal interfaces are created between the modules themselves as well as with the machine resulting in full control for the operator, short job change-over times and less waste.
Vision is a fully integrated assistance system which includes a matrix camera function for web monitoring and line cameras for web inspection, fault detection and bar code testing as well as several modules for assessing and ensuring print quality.
All operating and machine parameters are controlled via Procontrol at the central operator panel, which contains up to four monitors for the Vision and Check modules. The Check modules can perform barcode testing, print inspection and can make comparisons to a reference pdf to check colour value deviations and dot gain.
Not only does the system recognise defects it analyses their causes and automatically initiates appropriate counter-measures if required.
