e-FLEX 330 full servo flexo press, manufactured by Focus Label Machinery

IML Labels has installed a Proflex 250SE servo flexo press and CLC (UK) Ltd has taken delivery of an e-FLEX 330 full servo flexo press – both manufactured and supplied by Focus Label Machinery.

Label printer IML Labels & Systems Ltd, based in Sheffield, will use its new fully servo-driven, four-colour, modular press for production of high performance labels and tags for specialist industrial use to increase productivity.

‘This is our second purchase of a Focus press and will represent a big leap forward for us in terms of productivity and flexibility,’ commented Shaun Higgins, managing director of IML. ‘Our business has grown rapidly in recent years and we needed to increase our efficiency and capacity.’

Loughborough-based narrow web printer CLC (UK) Ltd, has widened its offering into smart media alongside its traditional products and will use its new press to facilitate greater efficiency for existing product lines, especially for integrated passive RFID (radio frequency identification), NFC (near field communication) and EAS (electrical article surveillance). This will enable the company to produce multi-feed across the web and the investment also provides a new platform for expansion into new market areas.

‘We like the open architecture design of the [e-FLEX 330’s] stations,’ said Mr Paul Simmons of CLC. ‘This enables easy loading of ink cartridges and print cylinders, so that interchangeable print cartridges can be partially or fully unloaded or exchanged, in order to minimise downtime. The print cartridge assemblies can be cleaned off press, allowing our operator to maintain uninterrupted production.

‘Not only does the e-Flex serve our present requirements, but the modular design will allow us to add further optional equipment if required in the future,’ he added.

‘The e-Flex platform provides the possibility for stepped specification levels, according to client requirements and budget – but with built in essentials, such as high speed job changes, automated set ups and increased efficiency in all aspects of design and operation,’ said David Lee, company director of Focus Label Machinery.
