The Perfect Proofer donated by GSE, in operation at Tajamar School of Business
To enhance the understanding of flexography, GSE has donated a table-top Perfect Proofer and Ink management software to the Tajamar School of Printing, in Madrid, Spain.
Tajamar offers a comprehensive educational programme with strong vocational and technology elements. The school continues to grow, driven by the demands of the label and flexible packaging sectors, and has around 350 students with an annual admission level of about 90 students. The new technology will highlight the importance of colour, print quality and efficient production.
‘The proofer is perfect for training,’ said Javier Rodriguez-Borlado, head of studies, ‘It enables students to see it, touch it, and learn the effect of changing different settings.’
Replicating the exact conditions of the flexo press, the proofer is ideal for proofing inks and optimising print quality before putting jobs into production. Pressure, speed, plate type, doctor blades and anilox specifications can all be adjusted, and the results seen immediately.
‘We hope that the experience of working with the Perfect Proofer and Ink management software will advance the knowledge of the latest best practices, especially those associated with lean manufacturing,’ said Maarten Hummelen, GSE’s marketing director. ‘Packaging and label printing is increasingly service-oriented, and the industry seeks smarter approaches for waste and quality control in order to stay competitive. We believe the tools we have provided will teach Tajamar’s students the skills necessary to secure rewarding jobs, and take the latest techniques to their employers.’
