The films are an excellent example of a circular economy in action

The world’s leading manufacturer of renewable and compostable films for the flexible packaging industry, Futamura, has experienced a 25% growth in sales of its renewable and compostable NatureFlex films.

Sales and marketing manager EMEA, Andy Sweetman, said, ‘The growth in NatureFlex sales can be attributed to the growing trend by retailers and brand owners to be more environmentally responsible in the sourcing and disposal of their packaging materials.’

The cellulose films, suitable for a number of flexible packaging applications including as a barrier layer for bio-laminates, are made from responsibly resourced wood pulp with a renewable content of circa 95%.

Independently certified to both EU (EN13432) and US (ASTM D6400) industrial composting standards, the films have also reached the standard required for home composting by Vinçotte.

The film biodegrades in wastewater and has been tested for marine biodegradation according to the ASTM D6691-09 standard.
