Asahi Photoproducts, a pioneer in flexographic photopolymer plate development, can facilitate graphic reproduction at higher quality vs. digital plates with a higher ink transfer and a wider tonal range thanks to its AWP – DEF Pinning Top Dot (PTD) flexographic photopolymer plate technology.
This development shows cost and time saving benefits to the printer and is supporting the fixed colour palette printing technique which will be highlighted at a customer open house in Brussels on 28 September, the day before Labelexpo.
The event will see Asahi collaborating with a number of leading industry partners. They include Esko and Apex Anilox highlighting the benefits of Equinox and Anilox, respectively. Xeikon will focus on the benefits of laser technology and other presentations will be from Lohmann Tape and Arets Inks.
Exceptional Print Performance
The focus will be on AWP’s water-washable plate that offers superior results to traditional or thermal technologies and even outperforms the latest generation of digital flexographic printing plates. It ensures exceptional print performance and enhanced press profitability as a result of engineered photopolymer chemistry design.
As the plate making process is solvent-less, there is no need for high temperature processes and the result is a perfect, dimensionally stable plate, which facilitates high quality consistent print production without colour shift. Its lower surface energy than conventional solvent plates enables improved ink transfer to the print surface and is keeping the plate clean during the production run.
It also has a lighter printing impression which produces constant repeatability of the print quality during a run, ensuring improved graphic consistency and print performance. Its high plate resolution designed for fine text and minimum dots fading out to zero and unique plate specification allows a larger total colour gamut to be achieved, particularly in any highlight areas. The result is greater design flexibility and graphic quality.
Higher Level of Quality
The AWP – DEF Pinning Top Dot (PTD) flexographic photopolymer plate technology meets the need for fast paced packaging printing companies to deliver ever higher levels of graphic print quality, both consistently and profitably satisfies the most severe criteria in terms of high quality printing as Gene Martin, Plant Manager, The Robinette Company in the US, explains: “The printing results were outstanding and the comments from the operators were: easy to set impression, improved ink release, less plate cleaning required and the highlights printed clean.”
‘This is a great customer event dedicated for printers to demonstrate the sharp, vibrant and high quality results that are possible,’ said David Galton, sales director for Asahi Photoproducts, ‘The print quality achieved by combining our plate technology with fixed colour palette printing techniques brings outstanding shelf appeal to packaging. Print consistency is crucial to brands’ ability to drive sales volumes by increasing visibility, reinforcing identity and ensuring volume turnover. He added, ‘Improved ink management also positively impacts production time and costs.’
Akihiro Kato, Asahi Photoproducts managing director and Dieter Niederstadt, Technical Marketing Manager will welcome attendees before they enjoy the specially-designed, packed agenda. A plate demo and company tour will complete the day.
